Ways2slim - Diet Information, Mediterranean diet ,aka, mediterrian diet: "The basic Mediterranean Diet has common characteristics even if the sourrounding countries differ in culture, language and recipes to some extent.

* an extensive intake of fruits, vegetables, bread and cereals, potatoes, beans, nuts and seeds
* olive oil is a source of mono-unsaturated fat - common to the Mediterranean area
* some dairy products, fish and even poultry are consumed in sparing to moderate amounts, and some red meat(not much)
* eggs are consumed in low to moderate amount say 1 to 4 eggs a week
* fortunately wine is acceptable but in low quantities ie. 1 - 3 glasses per day

A good question to ask is - Does a Mediterranean-style diet follow American Heart Association dietary guidelines?

Mediterranean-style diets are often close to US dietary guidelines, but not exactly.

People who follow the average Mediterranean diet eat less saturated fat than those who eat the average American diet. In fact, saturated fat consumption is well within US dietary guidelines. More than half the fat calories in a Mediterranean diet come from mono-unsaturated fats (mainly from olive oil). Mono-unsaturated fat doesn't raise blood cholesterol levels the way saturated fat does.

The incidence of heart disease in Mediterranean countries is lower than in the United States. Death rates are lower, too.
However there are some who feel this may not be entirely due to the diet. Lifestyle factors (ie. more physical activity and extended social family support structures) may also play a part. At this stage this is just a theory. However the research tells all - the diet has existed for umpteen years.

Taking Small Steps Towards Total Fitness

Fitness is a term that we most often associate with having well-toned bodies, rock-hard abs and generally, just a fit and outstanding physique. Body builders and gym instructors easily comes to mind. But in actuality, fitness is really more than that, much more. To be considered as “fit” one must possess these qualities, good health, stamina, endurance, flexibility and strength. A “fit” person must not only look the part but they need to high energy levels and the good health that a real fit person has. From a balanced diet, regular exercise and a good outlook on life, a person fitness levels need not always be at par with those so-called fitness buffs who live, breath and sweat all out fitness. After all, everything done in excess is bad, even in fitness so moderation is always the way to go.

If you’re just starting to get yourself on the "fitness track" then arm yourself with these simple and practical tips on how to start leading a healthy lifestyle.

Walk, walk and walk
Well, not forever of course but given that you don’t have the luxury of time to hit the gym and your work is already at arms’ length then treat your body to a quick and simple exercise. Whenever you have time, try to use your legs and walk to wherever it is that you need to go (given that it’s not that far), the actual daily exercise time requirement is around 30 minutes, but 10 minutes of walking is not so bad either. Even while you’re at the office, instead of using your swivel chair to hop from one cubicle to another, get your ass off your chair and walk to your officemate’s desk or your boss’ table to do what you have to do. It’s just unfortunate how we’ve become so reliant on machines that we’ve already forgotten to actually use our body parts.

Recharge those Batteries!

As they say, all work and no play makes Jane a very dull girl. But in these busy times, all work and less sleep makes people more and more prone to all sorts of illnesses. Never take for granted the various benefits that proper amounts of sleep can give to you. Aside from always feeling refreshed in the morning, you’ll save yourself the hassle of suffering from chronic insomnia as well as other stress-related disorders like migraines and hyper acidity. Also, having proper amounts of sleep will also do wonders for your beauty fitness, puffy eyes and dark saddlebags (i.e. eye bags) won’t be a problem anymore and your skin will be as youthful-looking as ever.

Kick out those nasty habits
Aside from not having enough sleep, another bad habit to kick out of your system is smoking (or whatever vices that you may be addicted to), so many people die each year from emphysema and lung cancer that it’s really alarming how so many people still continue to smoke. Vices are incredibly bad for one’s health, in order to get back on the fitness track, stay off those nasty habits, even by just taking little baby steps and start planning a fitness strategy for yourself. Just remind yourself this, one good does smoking really give you? It makes your health deteriorate, not to mention, being really bad for your skin because it tends to make it dry. It’s also a complete waste of money since not only are you damaging your health (possibly in the long run) but after lighting up that cigarette, it doesn’t really do anything for you. Spare yourself the trouble and join the fitness bandwagon towards a healthier you.

Network miracle

Hello everyone,


We are sorry for lack of info updates this week. Our main server on our private network crashed last weekend. All bugs should be fixed before this weekend is over. We manually rebuilt a database of nearly one terabyte. Never thought it would work but the staff here at ways2slim.com put for a super human effort.


We would like to give a special thanks the Gen3Evolution development team for their assistance. M.D. Feinx, in particular for the non-stop hand coding effort. Amazingly he recoded over 1000 pages for us using notepad of all things. If anyone could say they get a workout from computer work it has to be him.

Diet Results - early weekly update

Hello everyone,

This has been a great week for all of our diet partners.

The total weight loss is now at 107 pounds for the week between 13 people reporting in so far. Average weight lost is 8.2 pounds.

The total weight gain
for those on weight gain programs is at 54 pounds between 8 people reporting so far. This averages out to 6.5 pounds.

So our total healthy weight change
for the week is 161 pounds. Average weight loss / gain is 8.5 pounds.

Congratulations dieting partners you are doing great.

We will give you the total diet and weight loss / gain results after all diet partners report in. The results so far were so good I had to tell everyone.

Ahhh. .. I cheated on my diet

The best of us slip,sometimes.Not that I'm the best but,I did slip!
I am diabetic with hyper-tension and have an overactive metabolism. So instead of constantly trying to lose weight, my issue is maintaining a healthy weight. Especially late at night when the craving for food is like the boogie man. My personal diet and health plan doesn't include meta sugars. Still, I broke down, and got some candy.

Then . . . just like clock, work my dieting partner saved the day.

She just happened to IM me as I was eating chocolate. Sugar is my biggest health problem, but it's sooooooo good. Renea caught me right on cue. After my first bite of unhealthy wasted carb filled chocolate. Thanks Renea for such good timing.

We here at ways2slim.com never get tired of stating one thing

about health plans, weight loss, dieting and keeping with diets.

Cheryl lost 18 pounds, 10.3 this week!

After seeing the results from your weight loss program I was inspired. I just couldn't sleep without sharing the diet achievements of Cheryl. She has lost 10.3 pounds this week.
